Sr. Process Automation & Control Engineer

We are seeking a Process Automation & Control Engineer to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Camden, South Carolina.  
The successful candidate will work directly with the site power plant Operations and Maintenance teams toward implementing control strategies and projects associated with DCS and PLC process controls of boilers, turbines, and plant utilities. The candidate will actively share knowledge with other process controls, reliability, and project engineers throughout the company as necessary. The position works day shift with some flexible hours being worked as needed to support business needs. 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Responsibilities /Expectations:
  • Support process automation and control improvement strategies in Honeywell TDC 2000 / 3000 DCS, Rockwell PLCs, and associated HMI
  • Manage Process Control Network, DCS and PLC systems through their life cycle; keep equipment maintained and software current; initiate end of life cycle strategic plan for replacement
  • Implement multi-year migration of existing process control architecture to ensure reliability, functionality and ultimately value creation.
  • Ensure consistency and reliability of control on critical variables and KPIs
  • Supervise system management and hardware maintenance for process control systems
  • Support reliability and project engineering groups in planning and installing new equipment and process control systems via both small and large project work processes.
  • Initiate and develop process control modifications, both in process control and automation/safety systems for improved safety, reduced costs, and improved efficiency.
  • Maintain critical control documentation – P&IDs, control loops, instrument specifications sheets
  • Utilize best practices involving functional specification, design documents, implementation, and communication within the site's MOC (Management of Change) system.
  • Work with site IT personnel to support area through reliable process control network infrastructure and historical data, including DCS and external historian functionality.
  • Provide on-call support to the Utilities Area Maintenance & Operations organizations regarding DCS and PLC installed systems, Burner Management Systems, alarm management systems, process control network switches and servers, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP-IP protocols, Honeywell Matrikon OPC solutions.
  • Effectively work with various levels / functions of the organization
  • Work compliantly regarding site safety and environmental.
  • Work within structured work flow systems of operations, maintenance, projects, and structured process improvement methodologies like Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe PSDM, etc.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • 5 years minimum experience supporting Honeywell TDC2000 and/or 3000 DCS systems
